The Importance Of Using Images In The Classroom

The Importance Of Using Images In The Classroom is a short piece that reminds us of the power of images. Check the piece and the use of a famous painting, The Scream, to motivate the writing of a poem.

How are you using images in your classrooms? In reading blogs, do pictures draw you in?

Where would you rather be?

  1. Hi Judy,

I believe the power of the image is stronger than the power of words for the majority of the human race. Linking the two together is an excellent way of generating ideas, at least for a visually-oriented person such as myself.

  2. I feel the importance of images in the classroom is very high. I have my students look at images all the time. We discuss what they see in the image, what in the image makes them respond certain ways to it, and how certain imgaes make them feel. By using images I am able to understand what they think and how they feel about certain things.

  3. I would say that for me when reading blogs images do help to pull me in. Sometimes it is the image that ties in the whole idea within the blog etc. And as mentioned about everyone's learning styles are different especially in a classroom setting, and an image can be the difference between a student really grasping the concept behind what the teacher is teaching or not.
